"We came into the Outdoor Power Equipment business on 13th September 1998 by purchasing a STIHL dealership.  Within a short time we grew the business but realised that we were trapped in the business as we had:
• No I.T.
• No formal systems
• No clue as to how to do these or where to find them

The system was crowding us with more and more compliance requirements.  There were people ringing offering training courses so we could comply however, it’s fair to say they were using scare tactics to wean money out of us. It caused a lot of stress, then we were introduced to the STIHL SHOP concept - a retail group that could provide

We became a STIHL SHOP in Kaitaia 2005 - converting from an existing STIHL dealership.  In 2006 we opened a second STIHL SHOP in Waipapa.  We would never have considered doing this without the tools of I.T. and the STIHL SHOP Support office benefits i.e. training, help with compliance issues and much more.

In 2009 we sold the Kaitaia shop the transaction was an extremely smooth one the new owners spent two weeks prior to take over and we stayed on for 3 weeks after mainly just to show them how to work the I.T. system of which contained all the information required to operate the business.

We have recently opened another STIHL SHOP in Albany about 250 kilometers away from our Waipapa shop.  This we could have only done with confidence from our STIHL SHOP Licence. The benefits of being part of a retail group are many such as a common image which gives you national recognition, standards to adhere to, other store owners to gain advice from, a support office to assist you with things like OSH requirements, employment contracts, council requirements, resource consent requirements, merchandising, training, advise the benefits and continue to evolve as the group grows. "
